Did Toby Keith perform after his diagnosis
In December 2023, Toby performed for a full crowd. He had announced on November 3 that his three shows at the Dolby Live venue in Las Vegas were sold out. He also participated in the opening ceremony of the People’s Choice Country Awards at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on September 28. When asked how he was doing, Keith said, “I’m feeling pretty good.”
He attended the event with his wife, Tricia Lucas, and presented “Don’t Let the Old Man In” from Clint Eastwood’s movie “The Mule.” He mentioned that he chose the song because of his battle with cancer. “I’ve been going through my battle with cancer for the past few years. It’s truly inspirational for many people,” he said during an ABC pre-show event. “I thought it was appropriate to share it with a live audience.”
In June 2023, Keith had shared again that his cancer was progressing in a “natural predictive pattern.” As his tumor has shrunk, he hoped to perform again soon.
The country star first revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in June 2022, almost six months after he started treatment. Since then, he has talked about undergoing treatment for stomach cancer several times. He mentioned that the situation could be “fragile” and he hopes to return to acting in the “shape of a battle.”
